In Feburary 2017 I visited my second Canary Island, Tenerife. The overpowering presence of the island is the large central Volanco, Mount Teide, which is the highest point in all of Spain. My father loved Mount Teide so the visit was a bit of a pilgrimage to see what he loved so much about Tenerife. I did a day trip up to Mount Teide which stands at nearly 4000 metres high, and I did feel it with a bit of altitude sickness! The volcano park crater is where Planet of the Apes was filmed. There is a cable car up to the summit, and I was surprised to see snow at the top!

I stayed on the Costa Adeje in the Anthelia hotel and did a painting of the hotel and the grounds with mountains in the background. It is a lovely island and I would certainly go back!
